Projects

Project

Fish farming

The fish farming project is a remarkable initiative aimed at empowering the youth by providing them with sustainable livelihoods and practical skills in aquaculture. Currently, there are a thousand fishlings being nurtured, with plans to expand as the project progresses. This initiative is spearheaded by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development, and Vocational Training Centers, ensuring that young people gain hands-on experience in fish farming, financial literacy, and business management.

Project

Tech Innovation Hub

Ruwa Vocational Training Centre, in partnership with UNICEF, the BOOST Fellowship Trust, and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development, and Vocational Training, is launching a Tech Innovation Hub to equip youth with essential digital skills. The hub will serve as a collaborative space for young people to innovate, develop in-demand skills, and engage in social entrepreneurship to address local, national, and global challenges. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). The launch of the hub also supports the recently introduced Zimbabwe Digital Skills Training Program, a nationwide initiative led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to prepare young people with the digital skills needed for the future workforce. By fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, the Tech Innovation Hub aims to empower youth to drive positive change and contribute to sustainable development in Zimbabwe.

Project

Mbire Boer Goat Project

The Mbire Boar Goat Project is an initiative by the Ministry to empower young people in Mbire District, Mashonaland Central, who are involved in goat farming. The initiative was supported by the Chinese Embassy, which donated purebred Boer bucks and aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of young people by providing them with high-quality livestock that can improve goat genetics and increase carcass weight. 30 youth clubs received the purebred bucks, and it will ensure value addition and improved market access for goat products. Boar purebred bucks will contribute to the transition from F1 crossbreeds to purebred stock. The Mbire Youth Clubs each have over 200 goats, and the bucks will have 2-year rotations among the 30 clubs.
